Getting Here & Getting Around
We've got you covered in Udaipur. Accommodation at Chunda Palace for December 27–29, and all meals throughout the wedding weekend, are fully hosted by us. All you need to do is get yourself here.
We recommend flying into Mumbai first, where most guests will be spending a night before heading to Udaipur. Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport (BOM) is well connected from cities across the US, UK, Europe, and India.
Guests travelling from the US: December 27th falls right after Christmas — to arrive in time, you will need to fly out on December 24th or 25th. Please plan accordingly and book as early as possible. Flights over the holiday period get expensive and sell out quickly.
We suggest one night in Mumbai before flying to Udaipur. Here are our recommendations depending on what you're after:
Both are located in the Bandra Kurla Complex, close to the airport and easy to reach after a long flight. The Trident is sleek and fuss-free; the Sofitel has a more design-forward feel with great dining and a livelier atmosphere. Either is an excellent choice.
Our most upscale recommendation, with sweeping views of Marine Drive and the Arabian Sea. Ideal if you want to explore South Mumbai — Gateway of India, Colaba, and the city's most iconic sights are all within reach.
From Mumbai, fly directly to Maharana Pratap Airport, Udaipur (UDR). The flight is approximately 1.5 hours, and several carriers including IndiGo, Air India, and SpiceJet operate daily services. Book as early as you can — December is peak season in Rajasthan and seats fill quickly.
Once you've booked your Mumbai → Udaipur flights, please fill out the form below so we can arrange airport transfers to Chunda Palace. We'll be coordinating group shuttles from Udaipur Airport — the more information you share, the smoother we can make it.
Link will be active once flights open closer to the wedding.
Perched above Lake Pichola with views of the City Palace and Jag Mandir, Chunda Palace is a heritage property from one of the noble houses of the Mewar kingdom. Hand-painted interiors, arched windows, and 400 years of royal history — your rooms will be arranged. Simply arrive.
Most international guests — including UK and US passport holders — will need a visa to enter India. The good news: it's straightforward to apply for online, usually takes 2–4 business days, and costs around $25 USD. That said, processing can slow during peak periods, so please don't leave it until December.
We recommend applying at least 4–6 weeks before departure to be safe.
Citizens of most countries (including the UK, US, EU, and Australia) are eligible for an e-Visa. A small number of nationalities require a traditional visa through an embassy — check the official list first: indianvisaonline.gov.in
Apply directly through the official Indian government portal — no third-party services needed. Select Tourist e-Visa, complete the form, upload your passport photo and document scan, and pay the fee online. Apply at indianvisaonline.gov.in →
Your Electronic Travel Authorisation (ETA) will arrive by email, usually within 72 hours. Print it out or save it digitally — you'll present it on arrival in India alongside your passport.
The e-Visa allows entry through designated international airports including Mumbai (BOM). Present your passport and ETA at immigration, collect your bags, and your Udaipur adventure begins.
⚠️ Beware of unofficial third-party sites charging high fees to "process" your visa — the official government portal above is free to use (you pay only the visa fee itself). If you have questions, feel free to email rebeccasuharbeck@gmail.com.
What to Wear
Indian attire is optional but we would absolutely love for guests to embrace the culture and occasion by wearing traditional Indian outfits — this is Rajasthan, and the setting calls for colour, silk, embroidery, and unabashed glamour.
We are planning a group shopping day in Mumbai before the wedding at a place with budget-friendly options, so you'll have the chance to pick something beautiful before we head to Udaipur. Details to follow. Please avoid wearing white or black to any event other than the Haldi.
Sunday, December 27 · Evening
This is the night to bring full glamour — lehengas, sherwanis, sarees, embroidered anarkalis. Rich jewel tones, brocades, and embellishment are warmly encouraged but not required. You will be dancing, so plan accordingly.
Monday, December 28 · Morning
Wear white, cream, or pale yellow — something you're genuinely happy to get turmeric on. Indian attire is warmly encouraged but not required. (This is the one exception to the no-white rule.)
Monday, December 28 · Daytime
Traditional Indian formal is warmly encouraged but not required. Sarees, lehengas, sherwanis, or suits with Indian accessories are all wonderful. We want a sea of colour at the ceremony — this is the moment to wear your finest and most celebratory look.
Monday, December 28 · Evening
You may want to change into a second outfit for the evening — or keep wearing your ceremony look. Either is wonderful. Indian attire is warmly encouraged but not required. Festive and glamorous is the vibe.
Tuesday, December 29
Something comfortable — you'll be walking and exploring. Smart casual, a pretty kurta, or a relaxed daytime look. Indian attire is warmly encouraged but not required. You deserve a rest after two days of celebrating.

Questions & Answers
Make the Most of Your Trip
You're already flying to one of the most extraordinary countries on earth — why not make it a proper adventure? Whether you arrive a week early or extend after the wedding, India rewards every extra day.
The recommendations below are aggregated from top reviews across the internet. Please do your own research on top of this — every traveller is different and things change.
Delhi, Agra, and Jaipur form a near-perfect triangle on the map — and together they make up the most iconic travel circuit in India, connecting Mughal grandeur with Rajput splendour. Most international guests will already be passing through Delhi or flying into Mumbai, making this an easy addition before heading to Udaipur.
India's vast, chaotic, magnificent capital. Wander the lanes of Old Delhi around Jama Masjid, visit the UNESCO-listed Red Fort and Humayun's Tomb, eat your way through Chandni Chowk, and feel the full electricity of a city that contains multitudes.
Go at sunrise. The Taj Mahal is one of the few things in life that genuinely exceeds its reputation — a 17th-century marble mausoleum built by Emperor Shah Jahan as a monument to love, reflected in still water as the light turns golden. Book your slot in advance and arrive early.
The gateway to Rajasthan and a city that feels like it was designed to be photographed. The amber-hued Amber Fort, the whimsical Hawa Mahal (Palace of the Winds), the City Palace, and bazaars selling everything from block-printed textiles to mojri leather slippers. A natural stop before arriving in Udaipur.
A few more recommendations for before or after the wedding.
Ranthambore National Park sits between Agra and Jaipur — one of the best places on earth to see wild Bengal tigers. Book safari permits well in advance; December is peak season and slots fill fast.
Backwaters, spice plantations, and Ayurvedic retreats in the tropical south. A completely different India — lush, green, and deeply restful. The perfect counterpoint to the colour and chaos of Rajasthan.
Beaches, colonial Portuguese architecture, and great seafood. A few days of sun and recovery after the celebrations before the flight home — hard to argue with.
For organising anything beyond getting yourself to Udaipur, we recommend working with a specialist. These agencies all have strong reputations for India travel and tailor-made luxury itineraries.
One of the most respected India specialists, with offices in London, New York, and India. They've been doing this for decades and are particularly known for their deep destination knowledge, excellent guides, and ability to craft seamless luxury itineraries. Ideal for guests coming from the UK or US wanting a high-touch experience.
greavesindia.co.uk →A UK-based specialist operator with a superb Classic Rajasthan tour (Delhi to Udaipur via Agra, Ranthambore, and beyond) and a reputation for going deeper into destinations than mainstream operators. Well-regarded by serious travellers who want authenticity alongside comfort. National Geographic recommended.
wildfrontierstravel.com →One of the world's leading small-group adventure operators, G Adventures runs brilliant India itineraries at accessible price points. Their "Classic India" and "Rajasthan" tours are well-paced and popular — great for solo travellers or anyone wanting a sociable, structured experience without the luxury price tag.
gadventures.com →For those who prefer small group travel over private tours, Intrepid is the gold standard — responsible, well-organised, and genuinely committed to sustainable tourism. Their India itineraries cover the Golden Triangle brilliantly and are excellent value compared to the ultra-luxury operators.
intrepidtravel.com →Our tip: Book any India extension at least 4–6 months before travel. December is peak season across North India and Rajasthan — hotels, safaris, and train tickets sell out well in advance. Safari permits especially require early booking.
